Behavioural Design training for L&D

The course scores an 8, and on Monday everyone works the old way again.

How much effect your courses have depends on how much influence you have on the choices and behaviour of participants once the course is over. Fortunately, that can be learnt. In our online course you learn how to make sure people really do something different on Monday.

What you do differently on Monday.

  • You know why knowledge does not turn into behaviour. You see what holds participants back after the course, in their own workplace.
  • You design the week after the course too.The moment someone has to show the new behaviour for the first time.
  • You show which behaviour has changed. That tells the business more than a satisfaction score.

The mix of theory and practice worked well. The summary and take-away moments of each chapter helped. I liked that you could immediately apply the material in practice. I have no points for improvement. One of the best training ever!
Ruth de GrootLearning & Development Lead, Allen & Overy

The course offered a nice and clear structure. Very effective and applicable in practice. High tempo, attention is kept at it. Nice to work 2 days in the same group. The course had a great trainer! Thank you.

Very energetic, informative training! A practical addition to getting people to make better choices. Valuable, I look forward to applying this both professionally and privately. Thanks!

The path

The same method, online, at your own pace.

Lesson by lesson you work on one question: why does your participant do what they do? You apply it straight away with the tools of the SUE Influence Framework©. Then the fix: how do you make the new behaviour the easiest choice, and how do you put AI to work on it? In 33 lessons at your own pace you collect downloads and tools you use for your own course, learning programme or onboarding on Monday.

Through your employer

How to get your employer on board

Most participants take the training on their employer’s budget or their own training budget. The VAT invoice goes to your organisation: €1,490 excl. VAT. Open the email below, fill in three things and send it to your manager.

Subject: Request for the training The Art of Influence©Dear [name], I would like to attend SUE's training The Art of Influence©: two days in Amsterdam on [date], 1,490 euros excl. VAT. SUE invoices [organisation] directly. Our training scores well, but we see little change in the work afterwards. We usually try to fix that with better arguments. The SUE method turns that round: first understand why someone does or doesn't do something, then design the situation so the behaviour we want becomes the easy option. The training works with real examples from practice. I bring back the Influence Framework, the templates and cheat cards, and use them afterwards on [project or question]. I also come back with an EQAC-accredited certificate. If you agree, I will book this week. Best regards, [name]
Which one is on your desk?

Six questions every L&D professional recognises.

Why do participants do nothing with what they learned?

The old routine is waiting back at work. Without a place and a moment for the new behaviour, the routine wins.

More on behaviour change →

How do I measure the return on a course?

A satisfaction score measures a feeling. Look at the behaviour you want to see, and whether it shows up.

More on theory of change →

How do I get managers involved in learning?

Managers have little time. Give them one concrete question for the team meeting.

More on leadership →

Why do people start an e-learning module and never finish it?

Starting costs nothing, keeping going does. Keep every step short and show the payoff quickly.

More on personal effectiveness →

How do I build a learning culture?

People learn when asking and trying is normal. Design those moments into everyday work.

More on culture change →

How can AI help learning without people thinking less?

AI gives answers fast. Design the learning so people think for themselves first.

Frequently asked questions

What L&D professionals ask before they sign up.

I know nothing about behavioural science. Is this still right for me as an L&D professional?

Most participants start without any prior knowledge. You learn exactly the behavioural science you need, and you apply it straight away to real-life examples. Afterwards you know how to use it in your courses and learning programmes.

I have designed learning programmes for years. Will I still learn something new?

That is exactly when it pays off. You already know how to build a good session. The training shows why behaviour often does not change afterwards. After two days you know what to design around the session.

Who will I be in the group with?

A mixed group of up to 16 people: marketers, HR, communications, lawyers, policymakers and managers. The mix is on purpose. You see how someone from another sector wrestles with exactly the same kind of question.

Can I claim this back from my employer?

Yes. We invoice in your company’s name and the training is EQAC-accredited. That makes reimbursement easier. Need a quote or more information for your request? Get in touch.
