Getting people on board

Sound familiar?

1

There is resistance and we don't know how to deal with it.

2

We need to build support for our plans.

3

We need to get better at stakeholder management.

4

Our advisory skills need to improve so clients come along with us.

5

We have to lead without authority.

6

We need to get better at persuading: our story is sound and they still don't follow.

7

Our AI adoption is lagging: the tools are there, nobody uses them.

8

Our change management stalls: it has been announced and nothing changes.

9

We lack ownership: the team says yes and carries on as before.

10

We want behaviour change and the behaviour stays the same.

11

We can't get our people motivated.

All of these situations come down to the same thing:
the art of influence

Influence over the choices and behaviour of colleagues, clients and stakeholders. That is what your team learns with us.

Can't see your challenge on the list? Half an hour with Stephanie is the quickest way to hear what we would do with it.

Human skills now make the difference.

There is no denying it any more: AI is taking over more and more tasks. Running analyses, writing reports, working out plans: with AI it is simply faster and cheaper.

But what AI can never take over is the work that begins once the plan is finished. AI may have intelligence, but it has no empathy. Someone has to bring along a team that would rather keep doing what it did. Someone has to get a client to choose, convince stakeholders, win trust, have the difficult conversation, understand resistance before it becomes an obstacle. That is human work, and it asks that your team knows how people make choices.

Organisations that make the difference have professionals who can do that. That is what Behavioural Design is about: behavioural science made practical. That is why one word sits at the top of our model: human.

The model

SUE | Influence Framework©

The model that shows why people do what they do.

The SUE Influence Framework: Human at the top, the Job-to-be-Done at the bottom, current behaviour on the left, desired behaviour on the right, with Pains, Gains, Comforts and Anxieties in between

Knowledge can be looked up. Getting people on board is something you have to be able to do.

For leaders and management teams

Leading with Influence©

Leadership training for management teams and leaders: a nine-month programme, in which your leaders apply the method to their own work. Leading is getting people on board: your team, your colleagues, your stakeholders.

In addition, four deep dives are designed for leaders, each one day or online:

We'll work out together in the first call which course fits your challenge.

Which format fits

We'll gladly think it through with you.

Every course is built on your own challenge. The difference is in the format: one day, with follow-up days, or as leadership training for management teams.

One dayOne-day training on your own challengeQuick to schedule: usually a date within two weeks. Afterwards the team has strengthened its expertise with behavioural science it can apply in practice.

You choose one of the eleven training courses and bring your challenge: the plan nobody supports, the client who chooses something else, the department that won't move. The team works on that case throughout the training and learns to see what holds people back and how to get them on board without pushing. One day, live in Amsterdam, at your office or online.

With follow-up daysTailored training with follow-up days: learning by doingMore than a course: the team develops a skill. Between the sessions it applies what it learned, to real conversations and decisions.

A course spread over several sessions. Between the sessions the team applies the Behavioural Design Method© to its own challenge: getting a stakeholder on board, dealing with resistance, getting a proposal through the management team. On the follow-up days we look at what worked, adjust and share what we learned. That is how the learning takes root in the team.

LeadershipLeadership training for management teamsNine months in which your management team learns to work together better, makes better decisions and grows from a group of managers into a leadership team.

The Art of Influence© as a leadership programme. Your management team works for nine months on three things: how it works together as a team, how it raises the quality of its own decisions, and how it influences the behaviour of employees. Using situations from its own week: the team that says yes and carries on as before, the change that has been announced and doesn't land. With guidance between the sessions.

Practical

Frequently asked questions about in-company training

It depends on three things: how long the training runs, how many groups take part and where we deliver it. You pay per group of up to 16 people, not per participant. Half an hour with Stephanie gets you a proposal with a fixed price within a week. After that, you're not committed to anything.

Yes, and it's the most intensive format there is. Over nine months your management team applies The Art of Influence© to its own week: the team that says yes and carries on as before, the change that was announced and never landed. Leading comes down to getting people on board, including the people you have no authority over. A team learns that on its own decisions, around its own table.

Yes, provided the team trains on its own challenge. You change the behaviour of colleagues, clients or stakeholders by influencing it, and that starts with understanding why people do what they do. The team learns this with the Behavioural Design Method©, which has the SUE | Influence Framework© at its heart. In training with follow-up days, the team shows what it has done with it in practice.

Tailored, always: it's team training built on your own case. The method stays the same and the case is yours, whether that's the plan nobody supports or the department that won't move. We do an intake beforehand, so the examples and exercises come from your own organisation. You then choose the format: one-day training, training with follow-up days or leadership training for management teams.

Any of the three, or a mix. If the team works in one place, we deliver the training on location at your office. If you want people to step away from the day-to-day, come to our training venue in Amsterdam. And if the team is spread across sites or countries, everyone takes the training online at their own pace.

Up to 16 per group. Any more and people stop getting a turn, and everyone needs room to work on the team's own challenge. With 40 or 60 people we run several groups side by side. Everyone learns the same method and the whole team ends up speaking the same language.

Usually within two weeks. Within a week of the call you'll have a proposal covering format, content and planning. We then do an intake and set the first date. There are no fixed start dates: you pick what suits the team.

Yes, we deliver every course in both. That suits international teams and teams where not everyone speaks Dutch. The Art of Influence© is called De Kunst van Beïnvloeden© in Dutch. The online training is in English.

Yes, every participant gets one. SUE is EQAC accredited, and the certificate comes with every course: from one day to nine months, live and online.

Three things to keep working with: access to the Behavioural Design Club, SUE's AI mentor and the SUE | Influence Framework© as a tool for the next challenge. The most important part can't be handed out. That's a team speaking the same language about buy-in, resistance and ownership. It can take on whatever comes next by itself.

In-company when the team has to get something done together, open enrolment when one person wants to experience the method first. Building support and getting stakeholders on board is rarely a solo job. A team that has learned the same thing therefore gets further than one enthusiastic colleague. The Art of Influence© also runs as an open two-day course in Amsterdam, and anyone who has taken it knows what it would do for the team.
